Scope and Contents
The Student Housing Phase 3 is composed of approximately 57,940 assignable square feet/84,130 gross square feet in two four-story buildings on the campus at Scholars Lane between Emigrant Pass and Mammoth Lakes Road, just to the west of the Valley Terraces student housing complex. The Student Housing Phase 3 project accommodates primarily freshmen in its residence halls. The project site comprises approximately one acre of a two-acre site that was... an interim student resident parking lot. After construction is complete, a portion of the parking lot is expected to be retained until a future student housing project begins construction (currently anticipated to start in 2012). Building A contains a combination of residential space and study/program space. The programming space on the ground floor is planned to accommodate multi-purpose meeting rooms, office, and support space. The three floors above are residential floors. Building B is primarily residential on four floors with a small amount of administrative space on the ground floor. The two buildings combined house 306 - 320 dormitory beds, including a minimum of 290 double-occupancy and 16 single occupancy bedrooms. This includes 300 revenue beds (290 double occupancy and 10 single occupancy bedrooms). There are six non-revenue beds for Resident Assistants. Most or all of the revenue double bedrooms can accommodate triple occupancy when necessary. The project includes site development and infrastructure, as well as landscape and hardscape space to the north of the buildings for casual and programmatic uses by the student residents. The Student Housing Phase 3 project is built on a portion of the 307-space resident parking lot. During construction, none of the original 307 spaces were available for parking; 209 spaces were provided elsewhere, leaving a temporary shortfall of 98 spaces. Approximately 71 spaces in the northerly portion of the resident lot will be returned to service at completion of the project, and until the Student Housing Phase 4 project is constructed.
